Once again the Sonoran Plein Air Painters are painting during racing season at the Rillito.  I like to paint there in the late afternoon when everything is quiet and restful. I always enjoy painting with Sonoran Plein Air Painters !! They are a vibrant group and our discussions after painting are always informative. We had a busy weekend- Friday afternoon at Christopher Columbus Park and Saturday afternoon at Kings Canyon Trail head.  Two very different palettes. Is there a better way to start a New Year in a New Decade than spending time outside painting? My first trip out to paint after a busy holiday season was to Sweetwater Wetlands. It was a cool crisp morning with the sound of birds chirping, and laughter of school children on a field trip in the distance. My painting buddy and I decided that since it was so pleasant, we would start a second painting.  The light had changed and the air had warmed.  Perfect day !! Painting on location this past year gave me the opportunity to make new friends and catch up with old friends. These are just a few of my painting buddies                    

December at Sabino Creek is one of my favorite times.   The cottonwoods turn yellow and orange. This years rain filled the creek with bubbling water. The sun is at an angle that gives beautiful shadows. Sabino Creek 10" x 8" oil on canvas panel
