Hiking the Tanque Verde Wash


My painting friend and I walked down the Tanque Verde Wash to a spot she had scoped out the other day.  The wash is dry now as there has been little precipitation this past summer and fall.
I was taken by how it almost looked like a snow scene with the bright sand and faded out leaves on the huge trees. Although it was sunny it was quite chilly in the shade where I was standing to paint,  so it trully felt like January.

Summer in South Haven, Michigan

 I summer in a small lake town on the west side of Michigan.   The colors are different.
