Water is running in the washes

Image
Winter rains and snow in the mountains, usually means some water running in the normally dry washes.  I love painting there when this happens.  The sound of the water, the birds and sometimes the laughter of small children playing in the icy cold water is the perfect formula for me.   Sabino Creek Wash -January 8" x 10" oil on paper Available Late Afternoon in the Wash 6" x 8" oil on canvas panel available

Starting the New Year with Some Studio work

Image
Since the New Year here began with some cold, cloudy and rainy weather,  I started a studio piece. It is painted on a 24" x 30" stretched canvas. My reference is a photograph I took at Empire Ranch in December. Here are some progress photos. Not sure it is finished yet, I always let a painting sit a few weeks before I decide.
