Starting the New Year with Some Studio work

 Since the New Year here began with some cold, cloudy and rainy weather, 
I started a studio piece. It is painted on a 24" x 30" stretched canvas. My reference is a photograph I took at Empire Ranch in December. Here are some progress photos. Not sure it is finished yet, I always let a painting sit a few weeks before I decide.

Summer in South Haven, Michigan

 I summer in a small lake town on the west side of Michigan.   The colors are different. The atmosphere is often heavy with humidity.  And this year the smoke from the Canadian wildfires have changed the color of the sky.
