Summer reflections

Image
Thinking back on last summer, one of my favorite times was an early morning at the beach on a calm day. The only sound was the gentle lapping of the waves and the occasional  flutter of leaves in the  breeze. The sun was just starting to light up the beach and the lake turned beautiful shades of blue and green. I stood on the bluff and watched a small boat in the distance. What I did last summer- Part 2

I painted several times at one of my favorite places on our family farm. The spot is an old irrigation pond.  When it was first dug many, many years ago the water was clear. On  hot summer days we used to take our rafts and join the neighborhood kids for a "pool party". Now the water is dark and moody and a habitat for birds, bugs and butterflies.  "The old swimming hole" 10" x 8" on gessobord "Milkweeds, just waiting for butterflies" 12" x 9"  oil on canvas panel
